Attorney Town

Welcome To Attorney Town

While attorneys don’t generally get the best rap, as far as jobs go, they are a necessary and useful tool to obtain justice. A successful attorney should essentially be a legal coach or teacher. They should instruct the client of all options, taking legal action when necessary. An experienced or skilled attorney is especially helpful when dealing with major legal problems or large amounts of money.

To find the attorney that’s right for you, there are several options available.

First, you can discuss various attorneys with individuals in your community who have used particular lawyers.  It is especially helpful to talk with someone who had a similar issue as you, or at least had an attorney specializing in the same field.  You don’t want a lawyer who specialized in sexual harassment handling your small business case.  Don’t simply take someone else’s word for it either; you should always schedule a meeting with an attorney, prior to making a commitment to them.

Online services are also readily available for individuals seeking an experienced lawyer.  Some websites, such as , have lawyer listings, with lawyers specializing in a variety of fields.  Every state has a law bar website where each lawyer with a valid license to practice law is listed.  You can also use business referrals.

For small business law, talk to a banker, as they will know of at least one attorney.
For sexual harassment, talk to the local police station.

Your local Chamber of Commerce will almost certainly be able to point you in the right direction, as will non-profit organizations, related to that specific field.

Remember that you should only deal with an attorney who specializes in the specific field of your issue.  A general lawyer may be fine in some instances, but it’s more likely that they will miss some potentially key information about your case.  A specialist knows the ins and outs of that particular field of law.

Lastly, you should always interview several attorneys, before actually making a choice.  Just remember that you have many options out there, so don’t be afraid to use them.
